RECYCLED COTTON
Recycled cotton is a natural fibre that comes from previously-processed cotton fabrics; reducing the water and energy consumption that would be involved as compared to producing a fabric from raw materials.
Currently, the Fast Fashion consumption model generates a problem of over-production. This leads to large quantities of garments accumulated in landfills, in rivers or even incinerated in the open air, which pollutes the air and water.
Change is needed in the textile sector and in the current consumption model. In light of this, we work with recycled and recyclable materials to contribute to the reduction of textile waste, in the process restoring their value and giving them a new use.
ORGANIC COTTON
Organic cotton is a natural vegetable fibre.
Currently, as a consequence of the over-production of clothing, intensive cotton cultivation is carried out with negative consequences for the environment such as the use of pesticides, the creation of toxic waste and the use of large quantities of water. On the contrary, organic cotton farming contributes to minimising the use of pesticides, insecticides and herbicides; it favours irrigation through rainwater; it improves biodiversity and preserves the land and promotes decent working conditions.
We work with organic cotton fabrics with the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certificate to guarantee that: our fabrics contain at least 70% organic fibre; that the cultivation and production process has been carried out through fair working conditions; and that logistical aspects such as import and export, labelling, packaging, transportation have been carried out in an ethical manner.
The fabrics of our garments, made from natural fibres, seek to eliminate synthetic residues and chemical materials. We are committed to working with fibres that allow for the final garment to close the cycle through recycling or biodegradability.
REACTIVE DYES
Reactive dyes are synthetic dyes that adhere through chemical reactions to the fibres of the fabric.
It is estimated that 20% of all industrial water pollution is due to traditional fabric dyeing and treatment. This is the result of the large amount of chemicals used, the large amount of water required and the polluted wastewater generated during the dyeing process.
These by-products often end up being discharged into rivers and seas, affecting ecosystems and contaminating the drinking water of the local population. Unlike conventional dyes, low-impact fibre reactive dyes use 90% fewer chemicals. The chemicals that are used are non-toxic to humans and the environment as that are easily broken down by plants and microbes. Most of the dye is absorbed into the fabric, so there are far fewer residual substances than traditional dyes. And, as well as requiring much less water because there are no nasty chemicals to remove from the garment, used water can also be recycled through filtration processes and reused in future batches.
