FROM FIELD

TO FASHION

This first phase begins in the field where the plant is grown and the fiber is picked by hand or machine. It is critical that throughout this process we remain respectful of the conditions that allow these plants to prosper, taking into consideration use of pesticides or amount of water. It is also essential to properly manage the cultivation of these plant fibers as we don’t want to disrupt the ecosystem or affect the local society that may depend on these plants for their day to day living.

PONCHO STORY

We use conventional cotton that is grown and machine-picked in Pakistan. We are aware that conventional cotton cultivation involves a large consumption of water and the use of pesticides, herbicides and other chemical products with negative consequences for the environment. Even so, these natural fibers are biodegradable over time; reducing the impact that natural fibers have on the environment compared to synthetic fibers that break down much more slowly.

CERTIFICATES
Our organic cotton is GOTS certified, one of the leading standard setting certificates that guarantees an organic production process free of harmful chemicals, fair and respectful working conditions for those within the factory.
From the field, the cotton is moved to nearby gins to be cleaned. The cotton first goes through dryers which reduce the moisture. Using premium machines called strippers, the seeds, lint, and any other foreign material are removed. The cotton is then compounded together into large blocks weighing approximately 500 pounds, and stored before being sent to the textile mill.
ORIGINS COLLECTION
In this collection, the ginning process takes place in Guyarat, India.
Upcycling is the process of breaking down, transforming, and giving a second life to a material and avoiding the over usage of natural resources. Plastics have a grave impact on marine life and ecosystems, therefore, upcycling is a great way to take something that does such damage to our ocean and give it a fuctional use.

MORE OCEAN
LESS PLASTIC

ORIGINS STORY

In our ORIGINS collection, our Fuvamulah Towels are made of SEAQUAL® and recyled cotton. SEAQUAL® is a durable fiber made of 100% recycled materials, 10% is upcycled marine plastic and the remaining 90% is from post-consumer PET. The plastic collected is cleaned, turned into granules, then fiber, and then to a high-quality fabric.
