THE MADS BEHIND THE MADNESS
Mads St Clair is a tropical marine biologist and wildlife filmmaker. Conceptualised in a remote corner of the world when filming whale sharks, Mads decided to fuse her love for marine creatures with her passion for scuba diving, creating a swimwear and ocean-lifestyle brand. Mads developed Blu Wild’s line of flattering, high-performance swimwear pieces for ocean sports like scuba diving, surfing and paddleboarding, with a mission to not only create swimwear, but to build a community and movement that makes everyone feel welcome in the ocean family.
As a marine biologist actively involved in both marine research and ocean conservation, building a brand that was rooted in environmental responsibility was a top priority. Now, as Blu Wild joins the Ocean Born family, founder Mads continues to infuse her vision and passion into the brand as a creative advisor and ambassador, ensuring that Blu Wild stays true to its roots while embracing new opportunities for growth and impact.

Sustainability
Blu Wild was born out of a love for saltwater ecosystems and shaped by a desire to preserve nature. Our philosophy is to create high-performance, eco-conscious swimwear, that empowers the wearer to be bold, sexy and vibrantly themselves –without taxing the planet.
To us, producing “sustainably” means not only producing in an environmentally aware and transparent manner, but designing timeless pieces to be consciously consumed, so that you buy less, wear longer and shop slow. We’re constantly working to improve our approach to low-impact, ethical production and only work with suppliers who share these values.
Our Fabrics
We hold ourselves accountable to ethically source products and since 2021 we have worked to incorporate recycled fabrics where we can. As a small business, manufacturing with these fabrics is often very expensive, but we aim to use recycled materials across all collections by 2026. All of the recycled fabrics we use are certified by the Global Recycled Standard (GRS).

Carvico Vita is a versatile, hyper-resistant, thin, elegant, stretch, soft and breathable, made from ECONYL® regenerated Nylon (78% Recycled PA, 22% EA).

From fishing nets and fabrics scraps, to carpet flooring and industrial fabric, nylon waste is transformed into ECONYL® regenerated nylon.
